Introduction of Flexible Production Bids and Combined Package-Price Bids in a Framework of Integrated Power-Reserve Market Coupling

In this article a multi-zonal integrated energy-reserve market model is proposed.Bidders in this model may submit their demand and supply bids on the one hand in the formof conventional hourly step bids and block bids, which are cleared and paid according tomarket clearing prices (MCPs). On the other hand, suppliers may submit so called flexibleproduction bids, while both suppliers and consumers may submit fill-or-kill type package-priced combined bids – these bids are accepted if their acceptance implies an improvementin the resulting total social welfare, which the market clearing algorithm aims to optimize. The model includes network constraints for the nominal case (if no reserves are activated)and also for perturbed cases when the allocated reserves are activated

Optimal power flow (OPF) problems are focussing on the question how a power transmission network can be operated in the most economic way. T he general aim in such scenarios is to optimize generator scheduling in order to meet cons umption requirements, transmission constraints and to minimize the overall generation cost and transmission losses. We use a simple lossless DC load flow model for the descript ion of the transmission network, and assume linearly decreasing marginal cost of generat ors with different parameters for each generator. We consider a scenario in which the gene ration values regarding the OPF are calculated by a central authority who is aware of t he network parameters and production characteristics. Furthermore, we assume that a cent ral mechanism is applied for the determination of generator payoffs in order to cove r their generation costs and assign them with some profit. We analyze the situation when gen erators may provide false information about their production parameters and thus manipula te the OPF computation in order to potentially increase their resulting profit. We con sider two central payoff mechanisms and compare their vulnerability for such manipulations and analyze their effect on the total social cost

ATP production optimization in biochemical mass action models with protein turnover

    Get PDF
We introduce a simple approach to account for the ATP consumption and production in the case of mass action models of metabolic pathways including protein turnover. Under some simplifying assumptions, the method makes it possible to characterize the optimal rate of enzyme synthesis if the substrate concentrations and other rate constants are known. Furthermore we demonstrate that the proposed approach is capable of the comparison of the efficiency of different feedback laws in dynamic environment, considering time-varying substrate concentration.
